Music Review: Rise Against - The Black Market

So as being a make up junkie, im also a music junkie! I pretty much love everything, with the exception of most country (sorry country lovers, I just cant get into it). My and my fiancé have an itunes library of just shy of 5000 songs (all legally purchased too). Today im reviewing the new Rise Against Album! They have been one of my favourite bands since I was 13, and sparked one of my Fiancé's  and mine first conversations (Rock music is so romantic), He even tried to impress me by getting a rise against Tattoo(seen below), which 5 years later obviously worked.

Im totally loving the new album! I reminds be of some of the older Rise Against that I really loved, like stuff from Appeal to Reason. Methadone is one of my favourite off the album so far. People Live here is also a really great acoustic song, which reminds me of Swing life away a little bit. All in all a great album, and im pumped to add some of these upbeat songs to my workout mix. I would be surprised if someone hadn't heard at least one song by them since their release in 2001, as they have had lots of radio songs, but if not, and you like a good Rock/Punk band, They are worth a listen!

Tom Kha Gai

Tom Kha Gai is one of my favourite soups. After I go for Thai and have some, im litterally craving it for weeks after. I tried to make my own a while ago and the attemped failed badly. I tried again and succeeded! I mean it wasnt perfect, but it was pretty dam close! For those who havent had it, Its a Coconut milk soup thats a little bit tangy and usually has chicken and mushrooms in it (ill post recipe below). Its tasty and Healthy!

If you want to try it yourself here is the recipie! Please be aware Im not overly fond of recipies, and typically use them as a guideline and adjust to my taste

• 1” piece ginger, peeled and grated (or ginger powder would work)
• Juice from 1/2 a Lemon and 1/3 a Lime
• 1 Can low-sodium chicken broth (or equal amount to Coconut milk)
• 1-2 Chicken Breasts
• 2-4 oz. shiitake, oyster, or maitake mushrooms, stemmed, caps cut into bite-size pieces (I used just button and it worked just as good)
• 1 Can. can coconut milk
• 2 Tbsp. fish sauce (such as nam pla or nuoc nam)
• 1 tsp. sugar
• 1 tsp Chili oil or Samba Olek
• Salt to taste
•  cilantro leaves with tender stems, and lime wedges (for serving)

Add all ingredients and simmer on stove for 30 mins. This made one really large helping for myself for dinner. Again adjust according to your taste!

July Topbox!

So I finally got my first Topbox! There is nothing I love more than sampling different products, and I just recently learned about things like Topbox and Ipsy (which I get my first one in August). Im so excited for all of the products I got! Here they are:

 Wella Professionals Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray
This is one thing I always wish I had a good one, but always cheap out any buy a drug store brand one that i never use. Im SO excited to try this product because I wont style my hair without a heat protector. Did i mention this is a full size bottle? Not even a sample size a full bottle! Not to mention I have heard great things about this brand and always have wanted to try it. Value of $14!

 Barefoot Venus Lip Fable
My friend who has been getting Topbox for a bit got one of these last month and it smelled amazing so I was pretty excited to get one. I always have chapped lips so im happy to have a new lip balm. This one is honey scented which is subtle but nice. Value of $7.50, again another full size product!

 Philosophy Miracle Worker Overnight
Anyone who says they don't like Philosophy is a liar. Although this is an Anti-Ageing Moisturiser, and at the ripe age of 21 that not an issue im facing right now, My face does get quite dry from time to time so ill have to give a try and see if it does the trick! Value of $8.40

LA Splash in Foolish
What girl isn't a sucker for a nail polish? I have light pink but I dont have a bright pink so im excited to try it. I will likely give myself a little manicure with it tonight! Value of $7.50 Full sized product!


Anyway im pretty excited to try everything! Value of $37.40 and I only paid $14 so not too bad! I think I would even be stoked if I didn't love everything in it, because that is part of the surprise! My Makeup Bag!

Everyone who seems to have a Blog involving Make Up always seems to have a post about whats in the their make up bag, so heres mine! Lets keep in mind this is not limited too, but mostly what I would use on an average day

 

Sephora 24 hour Waterproof Mascara in Black

I bought this one day just because I needed a new liquid liner and it was one of the best priced ones at sephora. Its actually really good. I don't mind that its waterproof because it doesn't melt during the day or smudge, but yet I don't find I have a problem taking it off at night. I really like the brush inside, stiff enough to get a straight line, but still somewhat flexible. I only wish it went on darker, I find its not super dark, almost a little sheer.

 NARS Blush and Bronzer in Orgasm and Laguna
I think this product pretty much speaks for itself. If your not familiar with it, Google reviews. Its my favourite blush and bronzer, especially for summer. Nuff said

 Marcelle Multi Colour Bronzing pressed powder in Bronze Celebration
If I'm not in the mood to do the whole blush and contouring thing, this is my next go to. Simple and gives amazing colour and glow. Added bonus, when travelling it doubles and an eye shadow! I also can make it as dark or as light as I like by using different combinations of the strips.

 Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream in Light
Again another Summer go to. Gives that little bit of coverage, but does get streaky or cakey when I am sweating in the summer heat or during a work out (I try to not work out with make up when possible). So far this is my favourite BB Cream, although I haven't tried many, mostly drug store brands. My other go to foundations are L'oreal True Match Lumi, and literally any liquid Mac foundation (I have the mineral one right now).

 MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study
I have been using this since I was 14, and I don't think I will ever stop. This is the one product I am completely faithful to (and im a junkie for trying to products). Whether I am wearing it as a base for eye shadows, or most days just on its own for a nice, subtle shimmer and added colour, I don't leave home with out it.

 MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Light
Another Product I have been using forever and just wont give up. I grew up in a somewhat small city, with limited option for make up, so I became very fond of MAC very quickly because I was able to get it whenever I wanted. This finishes over top of any liquid foundation perfectly, never looks cakey or powdery. This is my go to powder, because I don't know if I could ever go to any other powder. Another exciting thing is they changed the packaging! They got rid of the stupid clear centre as seen in the picture, which broke every time on me near the end.

 Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara in Black

I'm Hooked. 100% Hooked. I was always all for drug store mascaras, and never thought it was worth spending more than $10(even though im willing to spend $40 on foundation, I know, makes no sense). One day I decided to Splurge and try a "fancy" mascara to see the difference. I saw the light. I have fairly long eyelashes, but they arnt as thick as they used to be. With this stuff you would never know.

MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW20 - Basically my saving grace with any Break Outs

Kirkland Make Up Brush Set - I got these as a gift and decided to give them a go and replace my awful Quo brushes(don't ever buy them, ever.), Which leave copious amounts of bristles on my face with every swipe. I love my Kirkland Brushes! Not that I would ever expect anything bad from Costco, but all 8 Brushes are great and I think they were only $30 for the whole set! Totally worth a shot if you want some decent quality brushes but don't want to shell out $30 a brush

Anyways this is just a very small portion of my Make Up Collection, but are my daily go to's! Ill show more of my favourites at a later date!
